Quitman Georgia February 2 The Quitman Liquid Fertilizer Co the county’s newest industry makes anhydrous ammonia available to farmers. Mathis Brothers former lime spreading service and fertilizer agency formed the new firm. The gas is 80 percent nitrogen, applied by tractor with a special tank at 4 to 6 inches depth, and has shown higher yields on cotton corn and other crops.
Bainbridge Ga Feb 3 Mrs King Whigham will serve as Decatur County Chairman of the Foundation for the American Cross announced this week by Miss France Fic Chapter Scape to raise funds. She has supported the Girl Scouts and 4 H Clubs in the county and last year was finance chairman for the service club. A planned drive in March will set quotas and organize committee chairmen for new planting efforts in South Georgia with Quitman among locations.
Cairo February 3 The March of Dimes quota for Grady County was surpassed for the first time in at least three years. County chairman J Harwell House reported contributions met and exceeded the $1600 target aided by school and other group drives. The quota was the largest ever asked of the county, with the Cairo Schools head serving as chairman.
