Fire swept the kitchen of a detached Fletcher street residence owned by Mr. Lasseer of Maryland. The blaze, driven by wind, caused heavy damage before the alarm could effectively bring help. Furniture stored by Mr. Tharin was also insured. Van Dyke’s insured loss was noted. A crowd watched the flames as rain fell.
Judge Hansell has issued registrar appointments for the Southern Circuit within thirty days of January. He named two Democrats and one Populist in each county, except Echols where three Democrats were chosen. The list includes Brooks, Colquitt, Echols, Lowndes, and Thomas counties with the appointed Democrats and Populists.
Fire alarm sounded after 3 am as Lambert’s Stevens street steam laundry caught fire. Firefighters saved part of the building but machinery worth about 2,500 dollars was ruined. Lambert insured for 1,000 on machinery and 300 on building. The blaze is suspected arson with a town reward of 1,000 dollars plus 100 dollars for proof to convict.

Prosecution, led by Messrs Hansell and Merrill, presented Policeman Brown and C. H. Young, who helped establish Griffith’s arrest and the confession. Defense to proceed tomorrow with testimony.
