Wiley L. Moore 88 Georgia businessman and civic leader died suddenly in a Washington hospital after a mild heart attack. He had arrived for conferences and was with Robert Ramspeck when struck down. Moore helped reform Georgia prisons 1943 44 and advocated rehabilitation, earning national attention. He owned a large Hancock County farm and was active in agriculture.

Funeral services for William Murray Culpepper 17 retired Thomasville contractor were held at 11 am at Whiddon's Funeral Chapel. He died Saturday night at Archbold Memorial Hospital after months of declining health. Fifteen pupils from Storkow High School crossed the border into West Berlin to escape Communist reprisals after staging a five minute class protest against Soviet intervention in Hungary. They were expelled after the incident and will be offered the chance to complete high school in West Germany.

Alex Crittenden former president of the Thomasville Exchange Club was named district governor of the fourth Georgia Exchange district by national Exchange president Millard Beckham. He will oversee clubs across 26 counties in Southwest Georgia for the year ending December 31, 1967.
In Tallahassee Florida a committee of 11 formed by Rev C K Steele will urge Black riders to occupy any empty seat on city buses. Steele said the goal is equal access to front or rear seats and not to ride with white passengers. No clashes reported as the boycott ends and seating changes begin.
Judge A M Bingletary announced today that he has administered the oath of office to officers elected in the November general election. The first meeting of the newly constituted County Commissioners will be held Tuesday to name officers and handle routine county government business.
Miss Sybil Simpson returns to Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta after Christmas at home with her parents in Meigs. Virginia Jones reports their aunt Mrs Frank A Jones, 69, died in Norfolk after a short illness. Mrs Jones is survived by her husband a daughter and a granddaughter in Norfolk. Various Meigs residents and friends visited Albany Cairo Bainbridge and other towns during the holidays. City Engineer D H Hurst of Tifton toured Meigs. Mr and Mrs James A Hurst of San Antonio were Christmas guests. Leo C Wilkes hosted holiday visitors in Meigs with Lannis Nicholson, Bernard Nussbaum, J T Golding and others visiting in nearby towns.
Firemen answered alarms Saturday afternoon for a grass fire near 128 Springdale Circle threatening a home, and again at 10 p.m. for a fuel oil heater blaze at 104 Tucwall Street. A small house at 135 Persimmon Lane owned by Ossie Johnson was destroyed by flames. Policemen reported a quiet weekend with only a few drunkenness cases.
