Few Georgia green onions sold 76 to 80 per dozen, sweet potatoes 3.15 to 4.00, pole beans 0.50 to 5.75, yellow crookneck squash 3.00 to 3.60, cucumbers 4.00 to 4.50 per bush. Broilers or fryers market firm 2-3.2 lbs at farms 15-17, FOB plants 17-18. Hens market firm heavy type at farms 20-20% FOB plants few 22, light type too few to report.

Mrs. Joan Franklin a 39 year old Kansas City woman told police she was abducted by two young men while driving to a drugstore parking lot at 40th and Main. They allegedly drove her to near Jonesburg Missouri and back before she was rescued. Her husband Walter Franklin, a former Dil- Hard player, now promotes uranium claims.
Final belated Rhode Island tallies show Dwight D. Eisenhower widening his margin over Adlai Stevenson in the November election. The scanned results indicate Eisenhower leading by a substantial percentage point total agented by late-counted ballots.
Hog receipts and prices from Thomasville Albany Moultrie Tifton Dothan in Georgia and Chicago with mixed grades 140 to 350 pound barrows gilts and sows notes. Country sales in South Georgia and Florida show barrows and gilts 180-240 pounds largely around 17 dollars. Cattle auctions in Atlanta on December 27 1966 show brisk activity with higher prices for cows slaughter steers and heifers and steady stockers and feeders.
A three-state Kiwanis gathering is planned here February 8 to greet Reed C. Culp of Salt Lake City. Governor Dr. R. Glenn Reed of Georgia and their wives accompany Culp. About 500 Kiwanians and spouses are expected at the VA Domiciliary auditorium after a dinner. Culp then travels to Sea Island on February 9 and Miami on February 10 for related events.
John Watts 26 died at Archbold Memorial Hospital at 8 05 a m from chest injuries after a collision of an automobile and an ACL train at Hansell Street crossing in Thomasville. Annie Walker 45 and Mattie Stephens 22 died on arrival yesterday. Others injured included Lillie Roan 36 Gilbert Roan 46 Charlie Davis 30 and Leroy Robison with facial cuts. Police awaited statements from witnesses as ACL officials investigated.
Ben S. Gilmer was elected president of the Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Co. to succeed Fred J. Turner, who becomes chairman. Gilmer, a Montgomery native and Auburn Polytechnic Institute graduate, had served as operating vice president since early this year. Turner led the company through a period of greatest growth, overseeing about 54 million telephones across nine southern states.
