The Chicago correspondent notes a southern hegira from western points with Chicago as gateway for winter travel. Many travelers stay in Georgia interior towns like Thomasville, with Jekyl Island and Piney Woods hosting visitors. Atlantic Coast Line offers festive round trip fares to Georgia and Florida points with various return limits in late December and early January 1908.

A Thomasville group including Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Hammond and several guests drove to Tallahassee for the formal opening of Florida's new state capitol. They dined with Judge and Mrs. Richard Long, attended a banquet, and ended the evening with a grand german before returning home the next day praising Tallahassee hospitality.
A marriage of interest was held last night at the bride’s home with Mr Homer Williams and Mrs Ola Beverly Davis. Rev J P Tardlaw officiated in a quiet ceremony attended by relatives and intimate friends. Both are popular in Thomasville and will reside at 111 0 street.
City residents hear Samuel P. Doss announce this morning his candidacy for city marshal. He asks for support and pledges to faithfully discharge duties without fear or favor. Sam Doss is well known to Thomasville residents and vows impartial service if elected.
Joe Williams and his wife Pearl quarreled on Saturday night. He slashed at her with a knife and wounded his mother in law who intervened. He is jailed awaiting trial for assault with intent to murder at the next county court term. The two women are expected to recover.
