Mary Hool 87 Dies at Boston Home

Mrs. Mary Ida Hook 87 died unexpectedly at her residence near Boston. Funeral plans are pending arrival of relatives and will be announced by Maxwell-Eason Funeral Home of Quitman. A Lexington County D C native, she lived in Brooks county near Boston over 40 years and was a Boston Baptist Church member. She was the widow of Charlie Morgar Hook, married in 1887, with multiple surviving children and grandchildren listed.

Tomorrow is the final day to settle City of Thomasville and State and County taxes without penalty. Delinquent payments incur extra costs and 7 percent interest. Auto owners must pay 1955 State and County taxes to obtain a 1956 license tag, as driving without a tag is illegal.

Chamber to Name Officers for 1956 Meeting Tuesday

Old and new boards of the Chamber of Commerce will hold a joint meeting on Tuesday to elect officers for 1956. The session starts at 1 p.m. in the Magnolia Room of Hotel Scott, with President W F Scott Jr noting plans to wind up pending business before the transition.

U S Red Cross officials expect Dr and Mrs Homer V Bradshaw American missionaries released by Chinese Communists to cross the Hong Kong border tomorrow A Red Cross spokesman said the Chinese Red Cross would deliver the couple to U S authorities today but time zones caused the apparent delay Both Bradshaws from Pittsburgh Pa have health issues and may be unable to speak on arrival They served in China since 1927 with a break for World War II Army service They were imprisoned in Canton in 1951 later placed under house arrest without stated charges

Barwick Woman's Club sponsors an outdoor decorations contest with four classes for door or window decorations outdoor trees outdoor scenes and overall effect.
