Hancock opposes extra session for Georgia Assembly

Representative Homer Hancock of Jackson County says an extra session would disrupt business and raise anxiety statewide. He cites pension, education, and highway matters plus the heavy cost and burden on business leaders who would miss weeks of work. He questions how funds for pension script retirement and large bond issues could be raised.

Extra session urged to avoid tax upheaval and bond issues

The speaker warns that handling line tax on the state highway, rail rentals, bond issuance, or new taxes requires reopening tax questions. Additional revenues would come only from new taxes or rebalancing existing ones, risking business and state departments guidance. An extra session offers little gain but much loss.
