Harold Burton Named Woman of the Year by Club Network

Harold Burton of Green Acres Club was lauded as Woman of the Year at a Christmas party held by the Elks Home. Nominated by her club, she received a Council gift, with runners-up from Beulah Ellabelle Barwick New Shiloh Boston and Pavo clubs earning gifts.

Woman's Club Plans Outdoor Christmas Decor Contest

The Junior Woman's Club announces its annual Christmas Decorations contest with three prizes in each class including v8 religious trees and miscellaneous. A grand prize will go to the top winner. Entries must be notified by Friday, Dec. 17, with judging on Dec. 19. Mrs. McRae and Mrs. Crittenden coordinate prizes and entries.

Young People Take Over Government At YMCA Assembly

Georgia youths will assume simulated offices during the 11th annual YMCA Youth Assembly in Atlanta. They’ll be sworn in by Chief Justice W H Duckworth, review bills, hear speeches, and honor outstanding fellows as they learn about political life. Tommy Burnside of Thomson will be sworn in as Hi Y youth Governor.

Miss Sue Brinkley Weds Allen Williams in Quiet Home Ceremony

Miss Sue Brinkley of Cairo and Thomasville married Allen Williams of Thomasville on Monday at 4 PM in a ceremony at Rev. Jim Willey’s home. The bride, a Cairo High School graduate, works for Southern Bell in Thomasville. groom is a former U S Army veteran and restaurant worker in Tallahassee. The couple will reside at 725 Hansell.

Christmas Gifts Given Clinic Patients Here

Sixty nine young patients from nine South Georgia counties were treated at the Crippled Children's Clinic at Archbold Memorial Hospital. They received gift stockings and a Christmas tree from Pilot Club of Thomasville and volunteers from Live Oak Brownie Scout troop.
