Mysterious Disappearance Of Air Mail Pouch
Chicago August 28 postal inspectors questioned hundreds of United States air mail employees after a pouch of registered and other mail vanished between Chicago and San Francisco. The pouch left Chicago August 25 and failed to arrive, with banks in Chicago and offices across the West alerted. Investigators detained a clerk linked to the pouch and noted the value and location of the contents remain undetermined as they probe possible theft or transfer en route.

Remus to be handed to U S marshals after release
George Remus the Cincinnati bootlegger will be released from the Atlanta federal prison next Wednesday and immediately delivered to Cincinnati deputy marshals. Warden John W. Snook said a detainer on Remus exists for a bootlegging charge with possible county jail time in Cincinnati. Immigration and state requisitions were not finalized, and Mrs. Remus’s arrival at Atlanta was unconfirmed.
