A seven year old embezzlement case against Abney N Strickland was dismissed on motion of the solicitor general in Statesboro Georgia The indictment charged 64000 and dated back to 1925 Strickland once served as confidential secretary to R Simmons and was located in Concord North Carolina before returning for trial The charges were nol pressed in court Savannah April 30 1928

The low pressure system over the Mississippi Valley and Gulf region drives showers and thunderstorms from the Gulf to the Great Lakes, with Mobile at 2.90 inches and New Orleans at 4.62 inches. High pressure along the Atlantic coast brings fair weather, while the Plains see cooler air and near freezing in the Rockies. a west Gulf disturbance may bring more rain to the region this afternoon and tonight. Sunday is expected to be partly cloudy with no rain anticipated.
