Edgar B. Dunlap of Gainesville leads the effort as a subcommittee presents a petition but is turned away.
A telegram from Cason J. Callaway, LaGrange textile manufacturer, urges the Democratic Executive Committee to endorse President Roosevelt for reelection and free him to accept renomination. The message from Kingsport Tennessee gives the governor proxy to sign any resolution endorsing the president and commit Georgia’s delegation to support his run.
Secretary Ickes announced that black blasting powder used during coal removal caused the Willow Grove mine explosion near St. Clairsville Ohio on March 16. Seventy two men were killed in the disaster.
