City fathers and officials toured the light and water plant last night noting its renovation and efficiency. They viewed dynamos, pumps, boilers, and the water softening section before a decorated supper hosted by Miss Huggins and Miss Stanaland. Mayor Inman praised the workers and plant for its size and operation.
Proprietors of small city newspapers gathered at the Waldorf Astoria to discuss challenges from good roads radio automobiles and liquor advertising affecting non metropolitan publications. Verne E Joye of Centralia Ill presided as preparation for the American Newspaper Publishers Association convention beginning next day. The gathering followed the Associated Press meeting where Frank E Gannett was elected a director succeeding Adolph S Ochs.

Dr. Torstein Hasselstorm foresees a resin boom for the South from a newly revealed apumaric acid in pine gums enabling purer resins to replace artificial fillers in lacquers paints and inks.
Connecticut's organized labor sent a letter protest to former official Ernest Rogers opposing Gov. Eugene Talmadge of Georgia attending the tercentenary celebration in New London. The move, approved by the federation, denounces Talmadge's stance on Ichor and the national recovery act as repugnant to union men.
