The Thomasville base ball club seeks a name from about forty submissions from women voters with a contest closing April 23. Top rewards include two season tickets. suggested names include The Tourists The Tommiles The Emperors The Rag-Timers The Rustlers The Highlanders The Gophers The Fighters The Swatters and others.
In Belgium the strike wave grows as 12 million dollars is estimated Belgium losses in the first days of the state for equal political merit. One half of the male working population is involved with employers bearing two thirds of the burden. The Premier rejects compromise and a referendum. Capitol printers and tailors strike while provincial workers stay firm and peaceful.
A social gathering hosted by Mr enr Thompson in his Fletcherville home. attendees include Mrs Maggie McManus and Miss Ethel Louise McManus of Smithville. also present are Miss Dela McManus and Miss Marie McManus of Macon. with Mr Will McManus among guests.
Thomasville stockholders gathered in the bank directors room for the annual meeting. Officers announced include E. M. Smith as President James Waitt as 1st Vice President B H Wright as 2nd Vice President R G Fleetwood as Cashier and B M Smith Jr as Assistant Cashier. Wright remains tied to the bank transferring clerical duties while Fleetwood becomes cashier.
The Royals defeated Norman Park 6 to 2. Thomasville High School had nine safeties while Norman Park scored in the first and third innings. McIntosh collected three hits in five at bats with two extra base hits. Ty Cobb Cooper had two hits in four at bats. Spence was out of the game, Upchurch started, and Walker played in the field.
Jack Chance of Smithville and L W McManus and J A McManus of Macon came to Thom asville Friday evening in cars with Mr Thompson and are enjoying a delightful visit here.
The Central of Georgia train from Macon to Atlanta wrecked near Lovejoy last night around seven. reports say several passengers injured including Miss Ethel Spence of Thomaville though a morning telegram stated she was uninjured and fully recovered. The crash likely due to a broken rail with wreckers suspected by some. The mail baggage and several cars left the rails and overturned causing heavy property damage and a costly rebuild. A special wreck crew and medical train rushed to the scene.
Atlanta reports that new federal law, passed by Congress and approved by the President, imposes up to 5000 fine and up to 10 years in prison for breaking into railroad cars or stealing from inter state shipments. Georgia expects a strong effect on thefts, aiding railways and travelers and boosting prosecutions.
The Texas delegation presents a loving cup to Burleson in Washington as a token of esteem and recognition of his fourteen years of service and time as a representative in Congress.

Washington April 19 The investigation of United States Judge Alex Boardman of the Western Louisiana Court was completed today. Originated mainly within the Department of Justice the inquiry began last February and officials remain reticent about its purpose. The report is now in the hands of Attorney General McReynolds.
A Black man named Burns was killed Saturday evening at a picnic three miles from Boston after an altercation with Will Malone. Malone struck Burns with a piece of scantling, crushing his skull. Malone was captured by Sheriff Singletary and jailed in Boston. The case will be investigated and likely tried in the April term of Superior court.
Representative Garrett of Tennessee met with Speaker Clark and studied precedents before planning a House resolution on the assault yesterday against Representative Sims. He noted the Constitution shields members from personal accountability for floor statements, and referenced past cases like Sam Houston reprimanded for attacking Stanbury.
Moses Williams a longtime Thomas county pioneer and prominent planter died at his home twelve miles from town at 1:30 a m after years of poor health He leaves five sons and six daughters his wife predeceased him about two years ago and he is survived by twenty five grandchildren.
Police with Deputy Sheriff Rehberg and county officers arrested five gamblers at Tom Bennett’s residence after surrounding the house. The five men attempted an escape through the back, were captured, and jailed pending trial. Names listed include Tom Bennett Ben Stewart John Smith Dave Robison and Mantbeirgs.
Mr and Mrs D I MacIntyre of Atlanta announce the engagement of their daughter Marie Randolph to Mr John Irwin Scott. The marriage is set for Wednesday June 4. Marie is described as a lovely young girl with many relatives and friends in Thomasville who take great interest in the forthcoming wedding.
The April term of Thomas Superior Court opened with Judge W H Thomas presiding. The grand jury was sworn, elected B C Reese as foreman and W A Watt as secretary. The judge delivered a forceful charge outlining laws on gambling concealed weapons illegal whiskey disturbing public worship and more. Court adjourned to divorce cases with civil business to follow. Also reported: J D Stringer confessed to stealing five thousand dollars from a Brunswick to Atlanta package and hid the money near Jesup before arrest. Stringer, an express messenger, is held in Jesup jail. his Rome, Georgia home noted.
Secretary of State William Jennings Bryan telegraphed Governor Johnson of California urging him to withhold signature from anti alien land legislation to avoid violating treaties with Japan. The Legislation Committee seeks limits of treaty guarantees to Japanese and other foreigners as President Wilson takes a day off while meeting Bryan.
Members of W. D. Mitchell Camp U C V No 423 are called to meet at the court house at 11 oclock on April 25 to elect officers for the ensuing year and choose delegates and alternates for the Chattanooga reunion. The date is moved because the 26th falls on Saturday. Confederates are invited to attend. Capt. Chas P Hansell, Commander. John M Dekle, Adjutant.
An Atlanta bank clerk opened a package sent from Brunswick containing 5000 in currency but found only worthless paper. The money likely stolen in transit on Southern Railway and the Brunswick Bank and Trust Company holds a clear receipt. detectives expect to solve the mystery soon.
Mexico City reports Foreign Minister Francisco De La Barra has asked Washington through its embassy for a formal explanation of Consul William W Canada in Vera Cruz. The consul allegedly blocked military removal of Dr. Francisco Vasquez Gomez from a steamer, arguing martial law did not apply and only a judge issued warrant could be honored.
