Snow Lake Ark April 20 One hundred additional laborers recruited in Helena Ark were on their way to Knowltons landing to join workers preventing a break in the Mississippi river levee. Government engineers continued reinforcing a bulkhead with timber and sandbags and planned to sink a willow ventment where the levee had caved earlier. Despite high water the crew kept the crown intact and saved the banquette, averting a major crevasse that could flood four counties and three towns in the state’s richest farming area.
The Florida state plant board announced new infected areas outside the existing quarantine in Justis Lake county and Nat soosee Seminole county. No cause for alarm is given despite two infested groves and a citrus cul1 pile. P. K. Yonge plans to attend a federal meeting on Florida’s fly situation. Georgia will adjust its citrus fruit quarantine as needed.

A British trawler about 250 miles west of the Hebrides reported an airplane passing eastward over the Atlantic at about 5 AM local time. The vessel Shackleford gave position 58.10 N, 14.20 W, but no trans Atlantic flight was confirmed and exact identity remains unknown.

Fort Cobb Oklahoma April 204P A 50 year old Indian woman Lonebear was killed and two of her children and eight others were injured by a tornado southwest of here last night. The twister struck south of Carnegie ten miles west of here and traveled northeast for about twenty miles destroying six homes and two filling stations.
New York April 20 Mayor Walker could name the next Tam many leader after Alfred E Smith withdrew from conferences. The seven member committee said the executive committee will choose from its own members. Smith indicated the committee is qualified to decide among themselves. The seven, including Smith and Walker, had been meeting with Wag ner and Foley on leadership. Smith’s withdrawal leaves Walker in a decisive position after Tam many gains from a 5 cent subway fare victory. It was unclear if Walker would stay neutral or show a preference among district leaders.
Atlanta was named a delegate to the convention of the Georgia Farmers Union, joining other local representatives to participate in the event.
