Insulin May Be Cause Of Overweight In Diabetes

A Philadelphia study at Hahnemann Medical College shows phenformin a non weight reducing antidiabetic drug helped obese adult diabetics lose weight. Georgina Faludi and team treated 37 patients. 28 lost an average 13.2 pounds, eight shed 18 pounds or more, versus 12 of 50 on sulfonylurea therapy who averaged 2.4 pounds. The researchers recommend phenformin hydrochloride for obese patients not losing weight on diet.

Florida State Series To Present Symphony

Tickets are on sale for two Atlanta Symphony concerts at Florida State University on April 28 and 3 in Westcott Auditorium. The Atlanta Symphony, formed in 1945, has risen to national prominence. Robert Shaw became its musical director, later moving into Symphony Hall at the Atlanta Memorial Cultural Center. The concerts begin at 8:30 p.m. with tickets $3.50 at the central ticket office, University Union.

Vashti art teacher presents varied collection at library

Vashti School art instructor Olga R Garza exhibits seven oil paintings a batik a woven show four sculptures and three wood carvings at Thomasville Public Library. native of South Texas she moved here seven years ago from New York she holds a BA from Pan American College an MA from Columbia Teachers College and a professional diploma. she teaches art and Spanish guides students to explore media and styles and plans to display through May 1.
