Four men died when a two thousand gallon ammonia boiler exploded at Moore Ice Works in Pensacola Florida on April 10. Windows were shattered for blocks and the blast was heard miles away. Firemen were overcome by fumes as they fought the flames in the partially demolished building.

Thomas County cattle shipments showcase beef prowess
Sixty nine head of Thomas County raised cattle were shipped to Savannah by the Thomas County Stock Company. The steers weighed a total of 48 000 pounds, averaging over 700 pounds each. Earlier, about 25 head of Hereford cattle from Watson and Gibson's Moultrie road herd were driven into town and sold to meatman H H Vann.

The city will soon receive a new American LaFrance engine and hose combination to be housed beside the current wagon. The sixty mile per hour machine carries twelve hundred feet of hose, two chemical tanks, and capacity for twenty eight gallons of gasoline. It includes two acetylene lamps a searchlight a locomotive bell a siren and full firefighting gear for seven men. The department is preparing the housing room and has cemented the floor for the arrival and setup.
