Juror Carl Hanson left court claiming a headache and was fined fifty dollars and jailed two days after being reminded of the obligation to stay. The trial ended in mistrial. Husky voiced C K Bowering later reports a swallowed pin caused his hiccuping cough and voice to change, and he expects it to normalize.
Washington April 10. The position of the treasury April 8 reports receipts 58,005,296.80 and expenditures 86,557,587.55 with a balance of 2,758,161,708.08. Customs receipts for the month total 9,077,947.22 and the fiscal year receipts since July 1 amount to 3,174,759,946.15 with expenditures noted.
The report lists expenditures and emergency costs totaling 5 050 and 136 202 11 with 2 601 768 858 95 of emergency expenditures, an excess of expenditures of 30 376 255 98, Grogs debt at 31 440 019 706 63 and a decline of 3 252 963 00 from the day before. Gold assets stand at 10 189 991 227 58. The United States has one motor vehicle per 5.07 persons.
