Georgia cattle auctions show weekly totals around 8350 head with varied steers heifers and cows, highs around 25.60 for 650-1150 lb steers and calves up to 28.75 for 260-375 lb.

About 150 Rotarians and guests dined on the grounds of Allwood Plantation on Springhill Road a few miles from the city. Leonard J. Buck and wife greeted guests as Bob Wise introduced hosts, trainer Johnny Chapman and staff. Visitors toured the grounds, saw the race track and a two year old trotter while learning training techniques and shoeing from Buck’s blacksmith and staff.

Soviet Cotton Decline Reported for 1960 Crop

The Foreign Agricultural Service said the Soviet Union produced about 6.8 million bales of cotton in 1960, roughly half a million less than 1959’s 7.3 million. Unfavorable weather cited as the main reason. The U S crop remains more than twice the size of the Soviet output.

Lions Postpone Clean Sweep Event Tonight

Heavy rain and strong winds forced the Thomasville Lions to postpone their annual broom and mop drive. The sale plans to resume this evening at about 6 30 p m and continue through Monday night. Funds raised will buy eye treatment and glasses for county residents in need.
