Carter signs repeal of unsworn statement law in Georgia
Gov. Jimmy Carter signs a bill striking Georgia’s unsworn statement statute effective July 1. Defendants may testify only under oath and face questions from the district attorney. Carter also signs a constitutional amendment for judicial reform and a companion bill creating an 11 member judicial council.
