Tallahassee April 3 President Roosevelt may be invited to address the Florida legislature scheduling a 60 day session. Democratic national committeeman Harry H Wells urged legislative officers to extend the invitation. Roosevelt at Warm Springs has not visited the capitol and Wells said he has not communicated with the president or his secretaries.

Warsaw reports Colonel Walery Slawek a longtime Polish statesman died from gunshot wounds described by police as personal safety related. Age sixty he led the government party under Marshal Pilsudski before World War I and served as premier three times. His last cabinet resigned in 1935 and he later became speaker of parliament. Friends say he was despondent after electoral defeat last November.
President Roosevelt at Warm Springs during a vacation pause reviews looming national measures. Congress has passed an $358 million army strengthening bill and a government reorganization bill to consolidate bureaus and add White House aides. Corcoran and Hopkins accompanied the President on a Pine Mountain drive as Corcoran drills with health concerns. Mr. Corcoran's visit followed earlier recuperation in Florida from an appendectomy with an incognito stay noted as Mr. Gardiner.

Atlanta April 3. P Test litigation described by Executive Secretary Ralph Ramsey of the Georgia Education Association as a friendly suit will seek to determine whether the state and counties can be held liable for back salaries of teachers. Ramsey said Gov. Rivers called the move a splendid idea.

Chinese forces in South China reported to have defeated a Japanese army south of Canton. The surprise offensive, aided by two IKwangsi divisions, recaptured Kongmoon and pushed the invaders back to their ships in the West River, with about 3900 Japanese casualties.
