Coroner's jury heard the Transcontinental and Western Air Express plane was in distress for minutes with engines backfiring before it plummeted from the clouds. Knute Rockne and seven others died when the craft crashed in the Flint Hills near Bazaar, Kansas.
The bodies of Knute Rockne and W B Miller were loaded onto a Santa Fe train at 4 45 a m in Strong City Kansas to be sent to South Bend Indiana for Rockne's funeral and Lawrence Massachusetts for Millers burial Also aboard were Dr D M Nigro a Kansas City doctor and Rocknes two sons William and Knute Jr all noted as passengers in yesterday's crash.
Savannah residents Lieut. Hugh E. Maudlin of Cairo and Mrs. Maudlin along with Mrs. E. H. Price of Savannah are among Georgians listed in the Nicaragua earthquake zone. Maudlin is a Marine Corps officer and nephew of B. F. C. Powell of Savannah. Mrs. Price is the wife of a Marine Corps officer and a daughter of Fred W. Long of Savannah.

Investigators said no securities were found on Christen or in the wreckage and could not locate the rumor source.
