NAACP seeks reinstatement of Lewis Steel amid suit
NAACP Special Counsel Matt Perry prepared to answer a show cause order from New York Supreme Court Justice Vincent Lupiano challenging the authority of the board to dismiss former associate counsel Lewis M. Steel and seeking restoration to duties. Four petitioners including Donald R. Lee and Lloyd King Jr charge the October 14 board meeting was illegal and want a ruling in their favor with Steel reinstated. The petition, filed November 19 and returnable November 26, centers on Steel’s Times Magazine article Nine Men in Black Who Think White, deemed an indefensible rejection of the association’s work.

Christopher Anderson of Fort Pierce and Lincoln Park Academy will receive the fifth annual Willie Lee Galimore Memorial Scholarship during pregame activities at the 36th Orange Blossom Classic in Miami. The FAMU Rattlers meet Alcorn A&M College Braves at the Orange Bowl on December 7. Anderson, a 6 2 205 pound defensive end, majors in automotive technology at Florida A&M University and is the son of Maggie Anderson.
