The Winthrop Trust Company announces a doubling of its building with five new rooms to improve public space private box renters directors room bookkeepers area and officers room. Completion and inspection are scheduled for 2 to 9 PM on Wednesday October 6.
The record lists the society’s second anniversary with a $1 250 678 note and names a long list of officers and directors led by President Almon E Whittemore and Vice Presidents Leslie Griffin William Mann Fred Curtis with Treasurer Harry W Aiken and Secretary Edward A Thomas.
The Winthrop Branch of the Special Aid Society dedicates a memorial tablet in front of the E. B. Newton School to honor the society's proposed effort and its community service.
The annual Winthrop Highlands Association dinner at the Cliff House saw President Harry K Wright reelected for a fourth term and the entire board reappointed. A new gavel was presented, manager Fred Bochterle received thanks, and a festive hotel setting with pennants and flags accompanied a shore dinner. Col Howell Theodore N Waddell Edward H Fenton and George H Russell attended before page 2.
The Special Aid Society for American Preparedness dedicates a six foot granite tablet on Pauline Street near the E B Newton School honoring Winthrop boys who died in World War One. Hon John E Beck delivers a moving address as Mrs Radell and Mrs Carruth unveil the tablet and local officials receive the marker.
