Mrs. Gertrude B. Donovan, noted for active community work, died at her home on Columbus Day after attending a meeting days earlier. The passing shocked neighbors and friends.

East Boston Woman Active Aid Worker Across Wars
Previous to her death her illness began on Friday and she never rallied after that date in East Boston 46 years ago. She came to live here about 10 years ago and soon became an active worker for Winthrop citizens. During the World War she aided the lo cal Machine Gun Boys at the border and later with the Special Aid Society cheering troops training at Fort Banks and Heath.
