The Winthrop Trust Company announces a 5 percent dividend from its Savings Department after earning sufficient income. The executive committee recommends payment. The bank invites inspection of its new quarters opened on Wednesday October 6th.
A large card party at Cliff House, led by Mrs Charles H Waldron and a female committee, raised funds for St John of the Evangelist Church. Guests included Mrs J Green and several O'Shea and Barter family members while church activities noted include seven year pastorate anniversary and improvements in vestry seating and Lighthouse World Unit Guild projects.
Capt. William M. Strachan his wife and mother Mrs K L Strachan of St Denys apartments returned by car from a visit to New York Saratoga and Springs where they stayed briefly and enjoyed the waters. They drove back via Berkshire Hills and Mohawk Trail.
Removal of the G A R buildings frees space for voting in Precinct 2. The High School building is proposed as the nearest and most cost effective voting site, replacing private property rentals for occasional elections. The move mirrors a recent Primary election change.
St Johns Episcopal Church observed the sixth anniversary of Rev R N Harper’s rectorate with three services led by Eugene P Whittier at the organ readings, with Miss Elizabeth N Allen playing Italian harp. Parishioners contributed to the coal fund, totaling 375 last Sunday, with 75 already sent and a hoped 550 goal.
