Plans state take railroad for traffic relief in Boston
J A Conry, longtime Boston Port Commission member, presented a Boston traffic relief plan to the Metropolitan Planning Board at the State House. It calls for a South Boston to East Boston tunnel, a new East Boston Lynn road, trollying the Narrow Gauge, and routing cars through the East Boston Tunnel. The state would own the Narrow Gauge, build a road bed for teaming traffic, and connect to the tunnel with ramps. Elevators on Atlantic avenue would end, using the current structure for auto truck traffic between North and South Stations. Estimated cost 320,300,000. Continued on Page 8.
