The Flag Day committee calls for broad community cooperation with the B P D Elks at Winthrop to stage a large patriotic program at the Winthrop Theatre. James M Curley is expected to attend with a parade from Main and Pleasant streets to the theatre featuring a band speeches a flag history and floral services.

ALF and AM Gala Night at Winthrop Lodge

Winthrop Lodge A F and A M hosted a Jes Night gala at Elis Hall on May 20 drawing about 500 attendees including lodge officers and ladies. The program featured The Players of Boston with Marie Zelezny Florence Colby Hazel Mack Glines Joseph Ecker and Gertrude Crosby plus refreshments and dancing to Somerville orchestra music.

Winthrop Council K of C Celebrates Annual Communion

About 300 members of Winthrop Council K of C gathered at the Parish Hall for a 4 45 AM procession to 7 AM Mass celebrated by Rev John J O'Brien. Special music accompanied the service and a breakfast followed at the hall arranged by Sleiber of Lynn with help from the Kocla Club ladies. Grand Knight Daniel J Honan led the post breakfast exercises and praised the members for their faithful example.
