Miss Winthrop Dance at Armory Hall Chooses Beauty Queen
The Kue Club at Armory Hall held a Friday dance naming Miss Hazel Wentworth as Miss Winthrop, the town’s beauty. Cecelia O'Toole and Fran cis Hennessey won the Elimination Dance and prizes. The club plans to keep the contest as a yearly feature with committee members listed.

Ladies Night Observed by Winthrop Royal Arch Chapter
Winthrop Royal Arch Chapter held Ladies Night at Elks Hall with about 250 guests. Committee chair William J. Kavanaugh led plans with Amos W. Crooks and George L. Crosby as supporters. Somerville's orchestra and Miss Emmons provided entertainment followed by dancing and a light lunch.

Winthrop Pageant Association Formed at Old High School Hall
A May 7 meeting of Winthrop residents established the Winthrop Pageant Association to continue the former company’s work on the World War pageant. Judge Charles J. Brown chaired the nominating committee. officers were elected unanimously. Harry E. Wright named President with Cora M. Holahan as Vice President and Elizabeth F. Jones as Secretary. Honorary President Col. James F. Howell and Honorary Vice President Lt. Col. Clarence T. Marsh appointed from Fort Banks.
