Esteemed Citizen Dies in Winthrop Community

Obituary notes the death of a prominent Winthrop resident, age 47, formerly of Delaware Ohio. He served as comptroller of Standard Plate Glass for 18 years and was active in Red Cross drives, Liberty and Victory loans, and local associations. Burial followed in Butler Pennsylvania.

Body of Sergeant Major Fletcher Arrives in New York

The body of Sergeant Major Arthur W. Fletcher of the 14th Railway Engineers, killed in France in 1918, has reached New York. Burial is expected Sunday if shipment arrives. services will be held in the Woodlawn Cemetery chapel.

Election at Winthrop Woman's Club May Meeting

The 1920-1921 Winthrop Woman's Club meeting at Bike Hall on May 7 voted to donate 60 dollars to the Winthrop Dental Clinic. A substitute motion was also discussed.

Mother's Night Observed by Winthrop Elks

Winthrop Lodge of Elks observed Mother's Night with a ceremony at 9 15. Exalted Ruler Wm E Curran opened remarks, a floral altar formed by officers, and a mother tribute. Logan McLean of Boston Lodge gave an oration. songs by Angus McDonald and John V O'Donnell accompanied the tribute.

Pageant Enrollment Open For Winthrop Event

Enrollment for The Pageant of Progress opens at Old High School Hall on Monday and Tuesday evenings May 16 and 17 from 7 30 to 10. Participants are sought of all ages for historical and allegorical roles, explorers, colonists, immigrants, dancers, and children for dances and features. Send name if unable to attend.
