The Review reports fundraising success for an area learning institution with Knights of Columbus Woman's Division and Holy Name Society contributing. Total donations noted 8031 dollars 83 cents with additional gifts pending publication next week.
Card of thanks from Harriet A Hearn notes generous support from Winthrop residents for the Boston College Drive and updates on the upcoming Winthrop Yacht Club dance on May 20 with Mc Hugh's Jazz Sextette. It lists committee members and the Women's Division chairwoman plus progress on pageant casting and rehearsals led by Harry C Whorf.
The America First pageant at Port Banka on July 4 and 5 energized participants as men women and children rejoined the show after a pause.
The Winthrop Women's Civic League offers a ten dollar gold prize yearly for the best essay on Civic Improvement by a local High School graduate. The league met at the Public Library with Mrs. Chas. D. Bradbury urging support from citizens. Officer reports were read by Mrs. Mabelle A. Barber and Mrs. Ruby A. Hubbard, with notes continued on Page 8.
Winthrop Elks announce the County Fair scheduled for August 6 on the Home grounds. Exalted Ruler W B Curran has led weekly updates and tickets are held by members. Cash prizes in gold total 756 160 and 100. The fair runs from dawn to midnight and the May Party drew a record crowd despite heavy rain with D A Ives providing music.
