Members Hear Talk On Work In Alaska
The Winthrop and Improvement and Historical Association met at the Barn on Tuesday evening May 2 with a large turnout. Mrs. Deroo supplied a chicken supper from the Deroo Farm and many helped in the kitchen. A spacious display included a patchwork quilt hung for exhibition, pieced by Mrs. Smith and gifted to the Deane Winthrop, linking local families to the association’s history.

Legislative Action May Cut Winthrop Tax Rate
Tuesday action on House Bill 2270 suggests Winthrop could receive about 34 864 dollars from the State Highway fund to be used against this year’s appropriations. The unanticipated tax reduction from that sum would be roughly 1 45 dollars, with two equal grants applying to all cities and towns. A 50 dollar per mile highway grant item is noted.
