Memorial Day activities will include the Winthrop Machine Gun Company in blue uniform, first return as a company since their Camp Darling and St Mass Infantry amalgamation into the 101st Infantry. Two ceremonies are planned: dedicating a memorial stone to Capt Richmond G Stoehr and placing a Gold Star Marker for Corporal Richard F Metcalf killed at Vaux. Rum Runner Find Leads to Seized Alcohol Near Highlands
Early Wednesday morning a Highlands resident spotted a boat and stacked cases on the shore suspected as rum running. Police recovered 215-gallon cans worth about 600 dollars moved to the station vault and found a boat off Beachmont with 2100 gallons valued at 8000 dollars later taken by the coast guard.
