Camp Powow Opens Six Week Season For Bay Shore Scouts
Camp Powow in Amesbury Massachusetts opens its fourteenth season on Tuesday July 5 welcoming Bay Shore Council scouts including Winthrop. Staff features veterans like Harry Twomey Philip Johnson Albert Lalime Alexander Walker Hector Rafuse and Paul Noren with new member Daniel Wormwood. The camp spans about thirty acres with two island camps on Tuxbury Pond and a canoe friendly Powow River. Facilities include thirteen cabins a mess hall a hospital and a main lodge with athletic fields courts and rings. Health and safety are emphasized with Arthur Johnson Red Cross supervision for the hospital and Dr Mudge on call in Amesbury. Waterfront lifeguards led by Clarence C Moore supervise water activities while fitness tests help tailor activities. Meals are prepared by Mr and Mrs Moran noted for Sunday chicken dinners and Mike Morans famous ice cream.
