The boat sailed from Portland Maine July 19 to Gloucester Mass after anchoring at Gloucester July 13 following a race day. Funeral Services Held on Saturday for Frederick Manning
Funeral services for Frederick R. Manning, East Boston letter carrier, who died July 17 at Massachusetts General Hospital after an operation, were held Saturday at 9 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church. Old neighbors and friends from East Boston and Winthrop attended. Rev. John T. Sullivan presided, helped by Rev. James I. Carroll and Rev. Alfred Butler. Escape Death In Lowell Road Crash
Three young men escaped serious harm when a Ford coupe grazed a tree on Lowell road and veered into the sidewalk at 41 Lowell road. Police say the same car was seen racing along Pleasant Street minutes earlier. The crash woke nearby residents as the vehicle sustained heavy damage.
