Ground broken Tuesday for new sea wall at Winthrop coast
Construction begins on a 1200 foot sea wall along Winthrop beach to halt erosion at Great Head promontory. A $75,000 concrete defense, 31½ feet top height and 7 feet base, will shelter land, protect the water tower, and allow a future inner roadway. Joint project by Winthrop and Massachusetts public works with 3000 cubic yards of cement and 2000 tons of rip rap planned.
