Tragic Coast Ride Ends in Death of 17 Year Old Miss Warren
A coast down a hill near Faun Bay ended when Phyllis Warren 17 of Winthrop was struck by a car driven by Richard W. Greene at the Beacon Street junction. She died later at Community Hospital from a broken skull. Greene faced manslaughter charges continued until Jan 23. Warren’s funeral was held at Somerville chapel. She leaves a mother and sister Adrienne Burkham.

In a notice dated January 20 1926 Winthrop Community Hospital Trustee report details a pre existing fire safety upgrade including a new 2 inch main, stand pipes in each building and ample hose lines funded by Water Commissioners and Trustee Albert Smith. A public meeting January 28 at Legion Hall will disclose two years of operation ending December 21 1924 with 1325 admissions 228 births 193 accidents and X ray clinic totals. The letter notes shift from stock to charitable nonstock structure and outlines four membership classes with fees and projected deficits.
