Many Place Gifts Under Tree at Hospital Christmas

The Winthrop Community Hospital received numerous gifts for a Community Hospital Christmas. Citizens delivered cash donations and goods across categories including doctors, druggists, hardware, florists, garages, shoe stores, markets, dry goods, and memorial lamps. A final gift report will appear next week as contributions continue to arrive.

Gift Presented to Rev and Mrs Hill at First Church Winthrop

At First Church of Winthrop the congregation honored Rev. Harry Belmont Hill and his wife with roses and a substantial gift after Sunday service. The Finance Committee announced rising attendance and a year end balance with all bills paid. The couple expressed thanks as the parish saluted their ministry and extended New Year wishes.

Eagle Badges Presented to Two Local Scouts

The Eagle Scout ceremony honored Rob ert Walker and Paul Dwyer on December 29 at 8 p m in Shirley Street School Auditorium. The program featured Myrton O. Hill as chair, investiture by Albert McGaw, and badges awarded by Harold Kilgore Robert Fowler Dr B D Freedman Arthur Campbell with Lincoln K. Drake presenting Council awards. Donald Gardner led the ceremony assisted by Commissioner Flinn.

Nativity Scene Open Through New Year’s Night

Due to high demand from many communities, the Bennison Nativity of Christ scene will remain open until New Year’s Night. Thousands have viewed it with nightly carols, and two traffic officers helped manage crowds on peak evenings.

Old Timers Night at Winthrop Improvement meeting

The Winthrop Improvement and Historical Association invites members and friends to a Barn gathering on Tuesday January 11 featuring a 6 30 dinner directed by Mrs Caroline Kirby then old time songs.
