Yachtsmen Await Opening Gun Of Annual Three Day Regatta
Yachtsmen prepare for the start of the three day regatta as officials report the upcoming tax rate likely to stay at or below last year’s 27.60 per thousand valuation. The Board of Assessors says Friday will reveal the rate, with a possible slight reduction despite expectations of higher state taxes. Any town meeting expenditures before year end won’t alter the rate set Friday and would be carried to 1940.

Labor Day Yacht Regatta Opens at Winthrop Club
Winthrop Yacht Club hosts the annual Labor Day weekend regatta with the warning gun at 2 30 p m Saturday. The three day event features about 20 classes and hundreds of yachtsmen from Massachusetts Bay. Open house and a social program accompany racing as the highlight of the gathering.
