Superintendent of Streets T. J. Mahaney reported a six foot by six foot sidewalk hole on Almont street. A laborer digging for gravel at the contractor's order admitted the act and the contractor, an out of town caller, was warned that future violations would bring court action.
In St Johns Episcopal Church a silver cup awarded for the best float in a patriotic Winthrop parade nine years ago was brought out for display during Sunday services. Flowers were placed near the altar, and Mrs. Mary Ann Rowe honored her son Marcus E Rowe who died serving with the British Imperial Royal Air Force exactly ten years earlier on August 19 1918.
