Funeral Services Held For Joseph Sheehan
Joseph Sheehan 50 former Winthrop resident and president of American Steamship Lines died of a heart attack at his San Rafael home. He led the Steamship Lines after reorganizing the remnants of the Old Dollar Lines and campaigned for American merchant marine support. Survived by widow Reina and two daughters Jane and Virginia, he was a Harvard graduate and former executive director of the U.S. maritime commission. He died last Friday with his wife, doctor Joseph A Hawkins, and Rev. George O Meara at his bedside.
