Seth Gordon Dead in Gore After Tragic Death

Seth R. Corden editor of the Gore Citizen and former secretary of the state election board was found dead at his Gore home in Sequoyah County. He leaves a wife and two children with relatives in South Carolina and Louisiana. Corden had lived in the Cherokee Nation for years and once managed C N Haskell’s gubernatorial campaign. He was defeated for the Democratic nomination for state senator in the last primary election.

New University Professors Arrive in Norman Oklahoma

Change of venue granted in Jeffries murder case

Gen Jeffries editor of the Nowata Advertiser had a change of venue to Rogers county granted by Judge Hudson due to extensive publicity. The murder of Mrs Irene Goheen prompted arguments from both sides and evidence from local papers. Trial date set for November 11 with ongoing Harkins case to be addressed next.

Parsons Here Yesterday at City High School

Prof A Parsons state high school inspector visited the city high school yesterday and praised the school in a favorable report. He noted rising attendance two new teachers stronger athletics and growing school spirit predicting a winning football team and the addition of domestic arts and sciences. He commended Principal Sullivan and the harmony with staff and urged students to pursue higher education.

Bank of Salina Opens With $10,000 Capital

The Bank of Salina will open next Monday morning in temporary quarters at the old brick building on the county farm. Capital is $10,000 with C. L. Pratt Jr. as president, R. E. Adair as vice president, D. H. Pratt as cashier, and directors R. B. Morris and J. M. Wagoner. They plan to move soon to new quarters at Pryor.

Whiskey Men Arrested By Pelloe Chief After Flight

Chief Chas Goodpastor of Pelloe arrested Mike Ray and a Syrian peddler on whiskey charges. At a local hotel the suspect had two grips of liquor totaling about 24 quarts, half pint bottles. The fleeing man was tackled after a brief chase, surrendered to U S authorities, and jailed for preliminary hearing. Also arrested Dandy Rice man on whiskey charge, bound over for $500. W H Minshall of National Cash Register company was in town yesterday.
