New Bank May Take Over Defunct Columbia Bank
Oklahoma City October 2 The Columbia Bank and Trust Co was taken over by the state Tuesday night with liabilities of about three million dollars. A new bank, organized by interests from St Louis and Muskogee, may purchase the Columbia assets to close the state’s handling of the defunct institution. Negotiations with President Norton and associates are largely off, but executives from St Louis and Muskogee are negotiating with Governor Haskell and Banking Commissioner Young. Johnston of St Louis plans involvement with First National Bank at Muskogee. The state expects to complete a deal to acquire usable fixtures and assets, though final terms remain unsettled.
