Gas price hike aims to conserve scarce Kansas gas
Coffeyville readers learn Kansas Natural Gas Co seeks fifty cents per thousand cubic feet for city consumers to “conserve” gas, while local wells show strong output. Coffeyville may fund own city gas plants at four tenths of a cent per thousand, recouping costs in four years amid disputes over pricing. A railroad name change and vast expansion plans for the Kansas Oklahoma and Southern routes also emerge, with routes across Oklahoma and into Texas, signaling broader transport ambitions and port choices.

Frayser Files Petition Over Water Access
Dr. 8. B. Frayser asked the city council to exclude his land from the town and claimed no water was furnished. The claim was proved false as the city funded water piping to his property. The city’s bonded debt was set on the town’s property then. Frayser must remain and pay his share of taxes. The Weekly Chieftain offers 50 cents for subscription until January 1, 1913.
