Washington report details a 1910 Bureau of Labor investigation of 257 commodities. Wholesale prices rose 4 percent from 1909, 14 percent above 1407, with farm products up 7.5 percent. Lumber up 10.7 percent. eggs up 10 percent. potatoes up 300 percent, meat 35 percent.
Oklahoma City July 12. Governor Cruce contemplates a reward for the capture of W. R. Mc Brine, accused of issuing fraudulent warrants while chief clerk in the state auditor's office, but no law yet authorizes such a reward. Statutes cover murder arson and horse stealing. other authorities are being checked. Pinkerton detectives, spurred by assurances from state officers, have begun pursuing clues on McBrine’s trail.
In Washington on July 13 Associated Press reports Senator Williams of Mississippi sharply rebuked Senator Heyburn of Idaho over calling the Confederacy an infamous cause. Williams, constrained by parliamentary rules, implied strong words he would otherwise utter about the man behind such views.
St Louis July 12 8 G Lewis former publisher of several magazines and promoter of enterprises was indicted by a special grand jury in the United States district court on a charge of fraudulent use of the mails. The indictment covers four propositions in which he allegedly obtained several million dollars by misleading statements circulated through the mails.
From Wednesday's Daily the July term of the county court finished the business requiring a jury and that body was dismissed. The court, in session one week, disposed of several bootlegger cases. George Couch’s case was continued due to Mrs. Couch's illness. The liquor case against W. T. Prichett was dismissed. William Frederick was found guilty for the second time on a liquor charge. Mabel Thompson, a Negro woman, was convict ed on a liquor charge, as was Jesse Buffington, a Negro.
Washington July 12 The congressional inquiry into the American Sugar Refining company will be moved to New York next week with hearings to begin Tuesday and run through the week Witnesses include John Arbuckle head of Arbuckle Bros John Parsons former counsel and Washington B Thomas vice president of the company Milton D Purdy ex assistant attorney general and George H Warle Jr of Philadelphia who charged Roosevelt did not act on Purdy s stated purpose The inquiry may cover the 1902 Pennsylvania Sugar Refining absorptions and related questions.
Kansas City officials report St Louis TV and the Million Population Club swept the national elimination balloon race. St Louis IV is likely first with a landing near Papas Junction Indiana at 4 15 yesterday afternoon, second place awarded to the Million Population Club at LaCrosse Indiana 2 45 yesterday afternoon.

Chicago July 13 three revenue officers and former government officials are indicted for taking bribes. Twenty three officers and employees of battery manufacturers are charged with conspiring to defraud the government of the battery tax and bribing officials as part of the scheme.
Dr Harvey W Wiley head of the bureaus of chemistry of the agriculture department is urged to resign by the department personnel committee. Attorney General Wickersham backs the committee motion and the action is placed before President Taft. Wiley is accused of approving excess payments to department specialists.
Washington July 18 The Bailey woolen amendment to the Canadian reciprocity bill reducing wool duties to thirty percent ad valorem was defeated in the Senate without a roll call. Bailey called it a waste of time. The free list amendment was also defeated with a large margin, Bailey not requesting a vote. The race to move reciprocity forward continues, with La Follette and Bristow ready with bills and Heyburn predicting party realignment around protection.
In county court Judge Parks overruled the motion for a new trial in the Walter Myers case and the defendant was sentenced to pay 100 dollars and costs. Notice of appeal was given and bond fixed. Next Saturday is sentence day for those convicted this term. The paper corrects a prior error about a liquor charge against W T Pritchett. he was charged with abusive language.
Nar cissa Owen aged 80 died in Guthrie after injuries from a fall. Cherokee by blood, she authored a Cherokee history and gained fame as a painter. Survived by son Senator Robert Latham Owen and Major William Owen. Body to be sent to Lynchburg, Virginia.
