Madame Labadie Pleases Vinita in Ibsen reading
Madame Labadie’s reading of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House at the Auditorium impressed a large Vinita audience last evening. County Superintendent Shelton praised the town’s stand, and Labadie’s portrayal covered Nora and Torvald Helmer with distinct realism and idealism. She noted she had fallen in love with Oklahoma. Fifty thousand dollars were lost in a Chanute Kansas fire with Henry Yockey the heaviest loser. his wife and two daughters escaped in their night clothes.

Land Restricting Cause Homeseekers to Pass On
Guthrie Oklahoma December 10 The belief that statehood would spur rapid population growth in Oklahoma has not held up to the 1910 census showing 1,657,155 residents. Growth since 1907 was only 17.2 percent, while the decade rise was 96.1 percent. Urban expansion dominates, with real estate speculation pushing town growth and limiting farm land sales, especially in eastern Oklahoma where Indian lands are restricted. Osage County urbanizes rapidly, while western areas keep homestead farms intact, sending many farmers to towns or migrating to other states. North eastern home seekers travel through Oklahoma toward Texas, a trend observed for years.
