Deficiency in Prison Fund Plans Deficit for 1909
Guthrie Oklahoma August 13 The report shows only 6043.27 remains in the maintenance fund at the state penitentiary at McAlester and 28000 in approved claims against the Ute fund for the year ending June 30 1909. A deficiency of 16956.73 will require a deficiency appropriation by the next legislature. The special committee recommends paying 3118 to cover last year’s prison employee wages, 2813.86 for other claims, and that the balance wait for a deficiency appropriation. About 95000 has been paid from the construction fund, some items improperly charged to maintenance. The panel suggests charging 20 cents per day per prisoner on construction work against the construction fund and paying guards who died while guarding prisoners on construction the same period from the construction fund.
