Entombed Miner Clary Alive By Drill Shaft Rescue
In Joplin Missouri on Sunday August 4 a drill hole eighty five feet deep reached a drift where 23 year old Joseph Clary was trapped after a cave in. He responded with a feeble hello and reported water three feet deep in places. Food, water, and air were fed via the drill shaft as rescuers work to finish the larger shaft. Clary refused to give up as colleagues and family watched. The father, a mine operator, greeted the news with a smile. Clary’s mother, gravely ill, was consoled by the hope he would survive.
