Fall foliage season begins with color showing in Shenandoah area
After a late start, autumn colors are just starting to appear in the Shenandoah Valley. Connor Goolsby of the Virginia Department of Forestry says peak timing depends on temperature sun and soil moisture with drought over the summer delaying colors. He notes higher elevations may show color earlier and recommends visiting Shenandoah National Park or Reddish Knob for best viewing while the valley awaits its full display. Contact Josette Keeler for more details.
