Front Royal EDA seeks rezoning of former Artex site
The Economic Development Authority requests re zoning 147 acres near 400 Kendrick Lane from industrial to mixed use ahead of a conceptual plan for a 30 unit town center. The plan includes 15 25 office and retail spaces and a technology data center. McDonald says the move could attract multiple developers and create over 600 jobs with a $40 million community investment. The Town Council Planning Commission joint session was set to review the proposal.

Camera found in coffee shop bathroom in Front Royal
In Front Royal a hidden camera was found in the unisex restroom of Happy Creek Coffee & Tea. Two search warrants were executed on Oct. 13 and Oct. 24 following a complaint. Attorney Nancy Williams disputes ownership and notes irregularities in the case as the shop owner Carson Boita denies knowledge of the camera’s placement.

Downtown landmark to be sold to EDA
The Warren Sentinel reports Front Royal will see the 44 year old Main Street business Stokes Mart sold to the Warren County/Economic Development Authority. EDA Executive Director Jennifer McDonald confirmed the plan to buy the business from founder Bernie Stokes to lease it to a company that will assume mortgage payments. The tenant remains unnamed, with confirmation that one is lined up.

New faces elected to Front Royal Town Council
Bebhim Egger won 1,273 votes and will join Front Royal Town Council in January, finishing behind incumbent Hollis Tharpe who led with 1,543 votes. Mayor Tim Carr and Tharpe are returning, elected to third terms. All totals were unofficial at press time pending certification.
