Corridor tax talks hinge on Crooked Run corridor dispute
A March 18 letter from Traczyk urges reintroduction of Crooked Run into corridor plans. Happy Creek Supervisor Tony Carter says 30 percent of the meals tax funds school capital improvements, about 210000 dollars, while lodging tax share is about 21000 dollars with no lodging tax restrictions. Town Manager Steve Burke says a March 30 work session could revisit the county’s latest offer amid long running 522 corridor negotiations dating to 1998.

Front Royal Council Delays Vote on Tax Rates
The Front Royal Town Council postponed action on the Real Property Tax rate of 13 cents per $100 from the March 23 meeting to a special session on March 30. A public hearing on tax rates is set for March 9 at 7 p.m. in the Warren County Government Center. The rate rise reflects a county reassessment of about 3 percent. Personal Property and Machinery and Tools rates stay at 64 cents, and Mobile Homes at 13 cents. For details call 540 635 8007.
